Academics

Cultivating Critical Thinkers

Learning is hands-on, challenging, engaging, real world applicable, creative and fun

Beginning in 2017, TVCS will offer a Gifted and Talented Program with enrichment opportunities for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade, and pull out opportunities for 3rd-8th Grades. At TVCS, we believe that Hands on Experience creates a deeper level of understanding.  To reach each student's personality, learning style, background knowledge, readiness, language and interests instructional methods are varied and critical thinking skills are taught.

To be academically successful, students need to be taught how to take an active role in their education.  Students need the opportunity to explore their interests and gain skills early in life in order to be prepared for satisfying employment.  Additionally, students need to  understand the importance of their contribution in society to become responsible citizens.

School Culture

Warm & Welcoming Community-Feel

Students Come First and Safety is of Utmost Importance

One of the most universal comments we hear when people come into our school is that our school culture is so strong our visitors feel it when they walk through the door.  This unique and welcoming culture is attributed to our caring and committed staff who put students first, love what they do and are dedicated to getting to know each student.  Our "whole child" approach to education sets the stage for classroom learning opportunities as we work together to solve problems and learn how to be better citizens.

We believe that as when students feel safe, accomplished, loved, welcome, challenged and engaged they are more likely to succeed.  Our Village includes teachers, students, administrators, parents and community members all working together to support our students.

Leadership Program

Lead to Succeed

Developing Confident Leaders Through Character Building, Camaraderie and Leadership Opportunities

At The Village, we are committed to a school where our students receive the tools they need to become tomorrow’s leaders, empowering them to go beyond what they ever thought was possible.

TVCS Is on track to become a Lighthouse School with the Leader in Me Program by Franklin Covey.  Staff are trained each year in the 7 habits of Highly Effective people.  Students are taught the 7 Habits and character education during the school day.  Each class develops a class mission statement, and students share their Leadership Portfolios in the Spring during Student Led Conferences and during Board Meetings.

Electives are volunteer-supported, focused-learning classes that are interest driven and hands-on, with 50 + choices offered per year.  Some past offerings include: cooking, outdoor survival, theatre, photography, sign language, sewing, sports, etc.

Proud of three of our students who testified in the Legislature about the benefit of charter schools in Idaho and the need for equitable funding.

A Message From the Founders

The Village Charter School philosophy is that there is a great need for options in education.  Students are unique and have gifts which need to be cultivated through a variety of activities.  Families need an option where each of their children can pursue individual interests within the same school.  Character building and values must be taught in order to produce virtuous leaders. If students are not progressing, they need teachers who will discover how to reach them.  Students who are advanced need opportunities to progress past traditional boundaries.  Students learn at different paces and benefit from the Limitless Learning Method, enabling teachers to work with them at their level of understanding.  Students need an environment where they can blossom.  The ACE Approach provides consistency in curriculum, school environment, classroom management and discipline throughout all grade levels. To be academically successful, students need to be taught how to take an active role in their education.  Students need the opportunity to explore their interests and gain skills early in life in order to be prepared for satisfying employment.  Additionally, students need to understand the importance of their contribution in society to become responsible citizens.

The Village Charter School serves both elementary and middle school students (K-8) and is located in Boise, Idaho.

Beginning during the 2017-2018 school year we will be located at 8400 W Fairview Ave in Boise, next to Winco by Milwaukee and Fairview.
